SAFE Centers of Excellence provide sexual assault patients with:

  • Sensitive care that is timely, compassionate & held in a private room.
  • Medical & forensic health care performed by a specially trained Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE). A SAFE is a healthcare worker such as a doctor or nurse who treats & records injuries, collects evidence, & keeps the evidence safe in the event that patients choose to report crimes to law enforcement.
  • Mental, emotional & legal support by a trained Counselor or Victim Advocate.
  • Recommendations to mental and physical health care and follow-up services.
